The movie Y Tu Mama Tambien is a 2001 Mexican film that won the New York Film Critics Award for Best Foreign Film. It is a timeless and unforgettable tale that was loved and well-received by people around the world. The movie depicted the life and culture of Mexico and its people. It efficiently portrayed the poverty that was also present in some parts of the country. The movie was widely acclaimed and has been one of the rosters of best foreign films over time.
The movie is about two boys (portrayed by the artist Gael Garcia Bernal) who encountered an older and married woman named Luisa on a family activity. Attracted to her attractive face, they began boasting about an imaginary beach until they where cut off by a phone call from Luisa’s husband telling her that she was cheating on her. Luisa decided to go along with the two boys although the two has no idea of their destination.
During the long ride the two boys shared tales with Luisa regarding their adventurous sexual encounters. They had a hotel stop over and this is when Luisa bade her husband goodbye. The other boy saw her sobbing in her room and sought this as an opportunity to seduce her and they ended up in bed. Bernal’s character saw what happened at was angry to his friend for he also wanted Luisa.
Luisa to settle the score also went to bed with him the next day. The three resumed the ride and found the imaginary beach and surprisingly with the same name. They frolicked and enjoyed the beach and had fun. They got very drunk and slept together, the three of them that night. The next day Luisa woke up early to leave the boys the boys and end it after which she made a last phone call to tell her husband goodbye.
This film is being shown as a tribute to Mexican culture in New Mexico where almost half population is of Hispanic origin.
