There has always been an interest in preventing hair loss, especially for those of us that actually experience it. Both genders, young and old may experience hair loss symptoms. Severe hair loss can cause concern for anyone that has self image problems. Many factors can cause hair loss, even recent life changes. Problems caused by simple inefficiencies can be prevented, while other severe causes may actually be reversed.

Getting into stressful situations for prolonged periods of time is one of the factors that can really start the process of hair loss. The effects of stress on the body will cause it to work in a less efficient manner, making you unhealthy. Hair needs to have proper nutrition to grow healthy and strong, and stress reduces your ability to absorb such nutrients from your diet. Many times, depression will contribute to these effects. A simple remedy for stress and depression is exercise, it will help you stay in shape while introducing endorphins into your system to brighten your mood and help you feel great.

Having large amounts of junk foods such as cookies, donuts, burgers, chips and other unhealthy choices in your diet will make you feel ill and may cause hair loss. Your hair becomes dull and brittle, and sometimes even greasy feeling when you introduce poor nutrient food choices into your diet. Your hair may be losing out on growing healthy by lack of vitamins. You can get back on track, maybe even reversing the effects of poor diet on your hair by taking a daily multi-vitamin with healthy diet choices.

If you recently started taking a new drug or prescribed medication, and are experiencing hair loss, ask your doctor about side effects and potential side effects. If it starts after you begin a medication, but it is not a listed effect; report it to your doctor immediately. Often enough new medications cause hair loss and it can be easily reversed.

Hair loss is also genetically inherited. Hair loss can be inherited from your mother’s side of the family. Many generations of hair loss may have been skipped within the family line. There are many medications and hair loss products that are designed to help you with genetically inherited hair loss.

Environmental factors play a large part in hair loss. Poor air quality and pollution, along with prolonged exposure to the sunlight may cause hair loss in some individuals. Keep your body healthy within, along with keeping yourself safe on the outside. How you treat your hair on a day to day basis will also have a major impact on hair loss, or lack of.
